International Conference IPMC 2025
The International Process Metallurgy Conference 2025 (IPMC 2025) was a biennial event organized by the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), , took place from October 13 to 15, 2025. with supports from Prometindo and PII BKT Metalurgi. Carrying the theme “Advancing Sustainable Metallurgy Towards Circularity and Carbon Neutrality,” this year’s conference highlighted global efforts toward environmentally responsible and resource-efficient metallurgical practices. The opening ceremony was officially inaugurated by the Head of IPMC 2025, D.Sc. (Tech) Imam Santoso, S.T., M.Phil., and the Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., who both delivered welcoming remarks emphasizing the importance of innovation and sustainability in the field of process metallurgy. The ceremony was enlivened by a series of captivating cultural performances. The ITB Student Choir (PSM ITB) presented two exquisite renditions of Indonesian traditional folk songs, “Soleram” and “Sik Sik Sibatumanikam,” followed by the Sigeh Pengunten Dance, a graceful traditional dance from Lampung performed by UBALA ITB.
One of the major highlights of the conference was the Keynote Session delivered by Professor Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and Head of the Badan Industri Mineral (BIM), Indonesia. In his address titled “National Technology Acquisition in Processing of Rare Earth Elements: Strengthening Capability and Advancing Circularity in the Mineral Industry”. Following the keynote session, the conference continued with a series of plenary and technical sessions, featuring presentations from distinguished speakers representing academia, research institutions, and industry. These sessions provided an in-depth discussion on current challenges, technological innovations, and policy directions aimed at advancing sustainable and circular process metallurgy on both national and global scales.

IPMC 2025 successfully attracted a total of 464 participants, including researchers, professionals, and students from various institutions and industries, reflecting the growing interest and relevance of process metallurgy in supporting sustainable industrial development. The conference also produced 39 SCOPUS-indexed peer-reviewed proceedings, showcasing cutting-edge research and innovations across multiple areas of metallurgy, materials science, and mineral processing. Participants and speakers represented a diverse range of countries like Indonesia, Australia, China, Japan, India, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, Kazakhstan, and Italy that reflecting the truly international character of the event and its commitment to fostering global collaboration in advancing sustainable metallurgy
