As part of the International Process Metallurgy Conference (IPMC) 2025, we are proud to present the IPMC 2025 Student Paper Competition!

This competition offers an incredible opportunity for undergraduate and master’s students to showcase their research, contribute to the advancement of sustainable metallurgy, and help shape the future of the industry. Selected papers will have the chance to be published for free in the official IPMC 2025 Proceedings, and finalists will compete for a total prize pool of IDR 22,500,000! Through this initiative, we aim to promote innovative thinking in metallurgical challenges, foster analytical and research skills, and encourage students to become active contributors to the metallurgical engineering community.

“Advancing Sustainable Metallurgy Towards Circularity and Carbon Neutrality”

The global momentum for climate action and the transition to a low-carbon economy have highlighted the urgent need to transform the metallurgical industry into a more sustainable, circular, and carbon-conscious sector. Metallurgy stands at the heart of this transformation—providing critical materials and technological solutions for renewable energy systems, green infrastructure, and low-emission innovations. To realize this transition, the industry must shift from traditional linear practices to circular approaches in resource extraction, processing, and material usage. Simultaneously, achieving carbon neutrality requires a bold rethinking of energy-intensive operations, with a focus on decarbonization, resource efficiency, and the integration of green technologies—including bio-based, data-driven, and low-emission alternatives.

The IPMC 2025 Student Paper Competition is open to active undergraduate and master’s students, as verified by a valid Student ID Card at the time of registration.

• Papers may be submitted individually or by a team (no limit to the number of authors).
• Participants may submit multiple papers.
• The competition consists of three rounds:

1. 1. Abstract Selection
   2. Full Paper Selection
   3. Final Presentation

Submitted papers must align with the IPMC 2025 main theme: “Advancing Sustainable Metallurgy Towards Circularity and Carbon Neutrality”, and should address relevant topics or subtopics.

• Notification of abstract selection will be sent via email.
• Finalists from the abstract round will be invited to submit a full manuscript via a separate link. A registration fee of IDR 100,000 applies at this stage.
• Only five (5) selected manuscripts will advance to the final presentation round, held at IPMC 2025.
• Three (3) winners will be selected from the final round.
• Selected manuscripts will be published for free in the IPMC 2025 Proceedings, as decided by the judges.
