International Virtual Courses 2024: Sustainable Process Metallurgy

Code IVC24-102 Sustainable Metal Production

Course Description

The Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering ITB, in collaboration with Aalto University-Finland and Central South University-China, proudly announces and invites you to spend your summer by joining The International Virtual Course in Sustainable Process Metallurgy 2024. The virtual course will consists of topics on Fundamentals of Metallurgy, Process production of copper, nickel, and coal, Production of Battery Materials, Process production of zinc, lead, REE, gold, and silver, and finally recycling process of metals.

Why Join IVC 2024?

Lecturers from three different nations will share the uniqueness of metal production technology in the world.

[1] Finland is well-known for its copper production technology and the professors from Aalto University will be teaching you how to produce copper and process gold and silver refining as by-products from copper industries.

[2] China is the world-leading metal producer, also known for its battery technology. Therefore, this course will deliver the production zinc, lead and battery materials and state of WEE recycling in China by the professors from Central South University.

[3] Indonesia is widely recognized for smelting technology for its lateritic nickel and tin ore. This Course will guide students to understand how to process lateritic nickel and tin ore from the experienced lecturers in Bandung Institute of Technology and it supporting industries.

[4] Indonesia has the potential to process Rare Earth Metals. The processing and application of REE for advanced technology will be discussed.

[5] The processing of nickel lateritic ore using both pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy routes will be delivered.

[6] Participants who satisfy the requirements will receive an E-transcript worth three credits at the end of the course (only for students from ITB, ITB Partner universities, or those from MBKM program).
